Character Sheets & Badges
Your character sheet includes your character’s backstory, relationships, powers, and goals. It’s a lot to take in, so we’ve broken it into smaller sections.
Most character sheets are 6-10 pages, and you’ll get your sheet well in advance of the game.
Along with your sheet, you’ll be given a badge with your character’s name. Badges will help you remember who other characters are, and they convey other important information.
Reading Your Character Sheet
Look for Bolded Character Names: Player character names appear in bold the first time they’re mentioned in each section. This makes it easier to spot key connections while skimming your sheet during workshops.
Your character’s backstory: This is your character’s backstory, told from their own perspective. They may disagree with others about what happened or why—especially when it comes to motives.
Connections and Opinions: This section offers a brief overview of your character’s relationships and opinions of other characters. These are subjective and can change over the course of the game.
If a character isn’t listed, it doesn’t mean you’ve never met. Most characters frequent the same places and are at least loosely acquainted.
You may also see references to offscreen characters, namely Norris Kleinspeigel, Cathy Moore, and Lawrence Andreyev.
Goals: These goals are a starting point, not a checklist. Your character might shift priorities, change their mind, or discover new motivations during the game.
Your goals reflect what your character hopes to achieve during this event. Sometimes they’ll align with other characters, and sometimes they’ll be in direct opposition.
Use your goals and connections to guide the beginning of play, but let your character grow and evolve as the game unfolds.
